Jerry Falwell’s college, the ironically-named Liberty University, where they punish students for dancing, watching naughty movies, kissing and drinking (liberty means following the rules of an old, rich dude with a Bible!) and punish faculty if they dissent, is profiled in a recent Newsweek piece which has been discussed over at Ed Brayton’s place. What’s most interesting is that ‘professional’ debate such as this really has nothing to do with anything meaningful. Part of what is important is following the evidence and making logical conclusions, mental training that Rev Falwell’s college doesn’t seem to be wild about.
