Both The Telegraph and Perry de Havilland think that Gordon Brown may be scrapping the ID card scheme, which is a giant £5.5bn waste of money. Of course, I’m a signed-up refusenik, but it would be nice if Brown got rid of one of the least popular pieces of domestic legislation I’ve ever seen.
