A pungent mix of programming, philosophy, pedanticism, procrastination, perplexity, peripheral political polemic, and platters of preposterousness.

Poor Stephen, he’s been having visions of L. Ron Hubbard. Generally when I get visions, it’s usually of Eric Morecambe, although sometimes I get contacted by the spirit of lesser mortals like Karol Wojtyla (aka. Pope John Paul II) - he likes eating ectoplasm and vomiting it up on demand.

I’ve always disliked U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. He’s a horrible little toad - preening, illogical and always eager to undermine any meaningful legal principle in order to satisfy his conservative buddies. His argument against no-knock raids - namely that the police are self-regulating through what has come to be described as the ‘New Professionalism’ - is bullshit. Unfortunately, Scalia’s opinion seems to allow the admissibility of evidence picked up during a search after an illegal arrest. Radley Balko has the full story.
