PZ has video of how barmy the Assemblies of God Church in Alaska is (that’s the one which Sarah Palin has attended). It’s all demonic power, and a barmy segment where they believe that there’s some kind of magic healing or anointing going on through the mobile phone network (the Holy Spirit on speed dial to ‘touch’ your friends). More information here. I just had a look and found that said church has local branches of crazy as little as twenty minutes drive from my home. American exception, my arse.
Wherein idiots get told repeatedly they are idiots then carry on regardless
Over the weekend, this post by Ted Dziuba circulated - a friend pointed it out to me on Sunday while I was just surfacing at BarCamp. It takes the piss out of TechCrunch - what’s not to love? - and gets a predictable reaction from John Batelle. The best bit though is the comments on Battelle’s blog.
Dziuba has an equally awesome post up on The Register about Chrome. It contains perhaps the best description of TechCrunch ever: the Special Olympics of tech media
.
TechCrunch makes me actually wish for the days before all you idiots invaded the Internet. Wasn’t Netscape Communicator supposed to be a Web OS or something?
