Ars Technica has a round-up of the changes in Windows 7’s UI. From the looks of the screenshots, there are a few things that have appeared - by some kind of osmotic magic, of course, rather than being copied from, say, the current incarnation of GNOME and OS X. I do find it interesting that all the things that people complain about in Vista are actually, as the article points out, necessary changes - but because Windows was so crap before Vista, they seem like downgrades. I’m sure that I’ll probably be coaxed into Windows 7 soon, which might actually be to Vista as XP was to ME. I’m reasonably happy with the XP setup I’ve got on my Windows box - I’ve got it set with a very plain, grey ‘classic’ UI, and like it like that.
