Tom Morris

A pungent mix of programming, philosophy, pedanticism, procrastination, perplexity, peripheral political polemic, and platters of preposterousness.

Techdirt has a good post on the data retention legislation. I like the suggestion in the comments that ISP’s should just stick the data on DVD’s and leave them in a pile. The ISPs should just ignore this damn law, or, if they are to obey it, do it in the way that will keep their costs lowest and cause as much havoc as possible for the government. You will be pleased to know that on any servers which I control, I will not release any data to any government - I will destroy it before I give it to them. You should also get PGP or GPG or some other form of strong encryption for all of your Internet transactions.
